Jordan Pickford to Juventus. It sounds like the type of transfer rumour cooked up in a late-night fever dream, but the noise out of Italy over the last 48 hours is refusing to quieten down. Reports from TuttoJuve, via Sport Witness, suggest the Bianconeri have put England’s number one on their summer shortlist. Apparently, they want leadership. They want experience, and they also want a bargain. Good luck with that.
Let’s look at the facts. Pickford just put up 11 clean sheets in 38 Premier League appearances, single-handedly keeping Everton’s head above water and preventing nearly three goals above expected. He is, without exaggeration, completely indispensable at Goodison Park. More to the point, the Englishman signed a contract extension keeping him tied to the club until 2029.
The Italian media claim Pickford’s representatives have been sniffing around Turin, looking for a European football platform. Maybe. But the reality is that Juventus are currently enduring a bit of a goalkeeper identity crisis, originally eyeing Pickford as mere competition for Michele Di Gregorio. Selling your absolute best asset, the undisputed national team keeper, for a cut-price fee to a side that cannot even guarantee top-tier Champions League football right now? It would be a monumental error.
Naturally, Goodison bosses aren’t completely deaf to the chatter. Word is they’ve already been scouting Aaron Ramsdale as a potential backup plan. Smart. You always need a plan B in this game, especially with backup keeper Mark Travers reportedly agitating for a move to find regular first-team minutes.

This summer is huge for David Moyes. The Friedkin Group are ready to back him with a proper war chest, and the target is clear: Europe. No more cautious, timid nibbling at the edges of the transfer window.
To keep Pickford happy, especially if he tastes success with England at the World Cup this summer, Moyes has to show that the ambition on Merseyside is real. You don’t build a top-six challenger by ripping out the foundations.
Instead of blowing the entire budget on faded marquee names, Everton are looking at the right profiles. Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney is heavily linked, and he is a good profile. Energetic, sharp with his passing, and desperate to prove himself in the top flight. That is how you bridge the gap. Pragmatism is fine, but it means nothing without intent. Moyes has the stability now; he just needs to use it.
