Juventus want a new goalkeeper and could turn to Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu after moving through several transfer targets and being forced to consider alternatives following several rejections.
They began the summer with strong interest in Alisson Becker, but Liverpool refused to sell, prompting the Old Lady to turn towards Emi Martinez. Aston Villa similarly refused to sell their goalkeeper, leaving Juventus to explore other options.
The Bianconeri have also had bids for Zion Suzuki rejected by Parma, with PSG set to add the Japan star to their squad. However, PSG could potentially offer him to Juventus on loan for the 2026/2027 season.
Juventus also like Atubolu and are interested in adding him to their squad this summer as they continue to struggle to sign some of their other targets. The German goalkeeper could therefore become their next number one if the club manages to reach an agreement for his transfer.
According to Calciomercato, although Michele di Gregorio has improved in recent weeks, he would be replaced, with Juventus now focusing on Atubolu as their main goalkeeper target.
The Bianconeri have been unable to secure several of their preferred options, forcing them to reassess their plans for the position. Atubolu has consequently moved into a prominent position on their list as the club looks for a goalkeeper capable of taking over as their number one.
Atubolu is now considered higher in the rankings of Juventus’ goalkeeper targets than Guglielmo Vicario. The Tottenham goalkeeper does not appear to convince Luciano Spalletti, who reportedly does not understand why Tottenham would consider selling him if he were good enough.
That situation has further strengthened Atubolu’s position in Juventus’ plans. After seeing moves for Alisson Becker and Emi Martinez fail, while bids for Suzuki have also been rejected, the German has emerged as the leading option.
Juventus will now need to determine whether they can complete a deal for Atubolu. With the club still searching for a new number one and several preferred targets proving difficult to sign, the Freiburg goalkeeper could become the player they ultimately choose to strengthen the position.
