Antonio Rudiger has entered the final few months of his contract with Real Madrid, and Juventus, which are monitoring several future free agents, have taken an interest. The negotiation with Los Galacticos is currently stalling, TuttoSport informs.
The veteran missed a good chunk of the season due to a thigh problem and recently dealt with knee issues, but he recently stated that he has recovered completely. Coach Alvaro Arbeloa praised his contribution and added that he’s a model for youngsters. The gaffer isn’t meddling in the talks, but heavily implied that he’s in favor of keeping him.
Rudiger, like Alisson, already worked with Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti at Roma. He makes €7M per year at the moment, which is bulky for the Old Lady’s standards. The Bianconeri are studying the right proposal to lure him, but he’d surely fetch richer offers from the Premier League and the Saudi Pro League.
The 33-year-old got his start at Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart before starring for the Giallorossi for two seasons, which served as a launching pad for a long stay at Chelsea. He headed to Spain in 2022 in a free transfer. He has lifted the UEFA Champions League twice and La Liga once, among other trophies, and has 81 caps with Germany.
He’s probably the most challenging and expensive, salary-wise, among the players they are tracking for possible Bosman additions. The defense isn’t their most glaring need, but the opportunities to add a player of this caliber, albeit in the twilight of his career, for cheap don’t come often.
