Juventus and Federico Gatti have reached a full agreement on the defender’s contract renewal, with an announcement set to follow his return from vacation and the start of pre-season training, as reported by Sky Sport and JNetwork24. The new deal will keep Gatti at the club until June 2030, reflecting both Juventus’ desire for long-term stability in defence and the trust placed in the 26-year-old after a whirlwind period in his career.
There had been outside interest in Gatti—Napoli considered making a move—but he has opted to stay in Turin, underlining his importance in the club’s plans, according to Tutto Juve. The extension had been anticipated for weeks, with Juventus prioritising a swift conclusion to re-affirm his role as a key figure in the squad.
Last season, Gatti emerged as a consistent performer, accumulating over 40 appearances in all competitions and solidifying himself as a dependable presence, whether in a back three or four. His performances were enough to earn him national team call-ups, and his stature within the club has continued to rise.
The past year was not without setbacks. As detailed by Bianconera News, Gatti’s campaign ended prematurely due to a serious foot injury at a critical juncture, just after a brief reunion with Igor Tudor. This forced absence highlighted just how integral he had become, especially with Bremer injured and Danilo leaving in January, leaving a leadership void that Gatti had helped fill.
His journey over recent seasons has featured moments of both tension and redemption. Arriving from Frosinone as something of an unknown quantity, Gatti faced challenging periods—at times seeing the captain’s armband awarded and then withdrawn, and even encountering speculation about a possible departure after reported friction with former manager Thiago Motta. However, when called upon, Gatti’s determination and reliability made him a fan favourite and a pillar in Europe as well as Serie A.
The renewal to 2030 offers a statement from the Juventus hierarchy: they see Gatti as a cornerstone to build around, regardless of coaching changes or tactical evolution. As he prepares to rejoin the squad, all indications suggest that, pending the formal announcement, Gatti is set to embark on a new chapter as a leader in the Bianconeri defence.
