Juventus and Manchester United have reportedly opened talks over Rasmus Hojlund’s return to Serie A. According to Calciomercato, negotiations are underway, with the Red Devils open to selling the former Atalanta striker.
Two years after leaving Bergamo in an eye-watering £72million deal, Hojlund could ply his trade in Italy again. Juventus have earmarked him as their top priority to reinforce their misfiring frontline despite his torrid time at Old Trafford.
Hojlund joined Man Utd as a generational talent, but his time in the Premier League has not gone to plan. Indeed, the Denmark international has only netted four goals in 29 league appearances for the 20-time English champions this season.
A lack of goals has convinced United boss Ruben Amorim to begin the search for a new center-forward. With Man Utd willing to sell the 22-year-old for the right price, Juventus have spotted a window of opportunity and plan to act on it.
However, Hojlund won’t come cheap. Despite his unenviable record in England, Man Utd won’t let him go for peanuts. The Red Devils need cash to finance their recruitment campaign, as they hope to lure Sporting CP talisman Viktor Gyokeres to the Theater of Dreams.
In addition to Hojlund, Juventus may rekindle their pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee. The Turin giants had previously tried to sign the Dutch forward, and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli even struck a verbal agreement with his representative, Kia Joorabchian.
Zirkzee’s situation at Man Utd has changed since Amorim’s arrival, and it’s hard to imagine his transfer to Juventus in the summer. Meanwhile, the Bianconeri can make room for Hojlund by offloading Dusan Vlahovic. Moreover, Randal Kolo Muani may not stay at the Allianz Stadium.
