Juventus decided to roll with three center-forwards vying for one starting job in most matches this season. After a sound start by Jonathan David and David Vlahovic, they haven’t gotten much from them in recent fixtures. Lois Openda has yet to score his maiden goal since moving to Turin, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The Canadian marksman hit the net in one of his first appearances, but has been poor afterward. He had played sparingly before starting in the past two matches, during which he left major chances on the table.

Vlahovic carried Juventus for a brief stretch with his goals from the bench. However, he couldn’t strike when he got the nod. His form has quickly dipped. He hasn’t made the stat sheet in the past four tilts.

The Bianconeri spent €43M for Openda on deadline day, but they haven’t prioritized him despite the investment. He has yet to bag his maiden goal this campaign. None of the three center-forwards has scored since mid-September.

Igor Tudor has tried to field two together, both in his standard 3-4-2-1, but David didn’t look comfortable a few meters behind another marksman, and in a straight 3-5-2 late against Milan, but it didn’t lead to any improvements or goals

They didn’t really need Openda without selling Vlahovic, but they evidently thought his valuation was a bargain and that they couldn’t wait a year to sign. The gambit might still work if they get hot alternatively. It’ll probably be rare for all three to be slumping at the same time. The more worrying issue is that the no.9 receives very limited good feeds in each game for a team that is so offensive-minded and unbalanced.
