Looking to bounce back from a very disappointing European exit to PSV during the week, Thiago Motta named Dušan Vlahović in his lineup for the first time in over a month, and was swiftly rewarded for his decision.

The Serbian striker broke through the lines and held off Yerry Mina before rounding Elia Caprile and squeezing the ball home from a close angle.

It was the 25-year-old's ninth goal in just 12 games against Cagliari - he has not scored more against any other side in his career.

That was all that was required for the three points, although the Old Lady had opportunities to add to their lead. The joint-meanest defence in Italy had little problem holding onto their one-goal advantage.

One issue from the night for Motta was more injuries, with both Andrea Cambiaso and substitute Douglas Luiz hobbling off late on.

The win moves Juve back above Lazio and into fourth place in the table, as well as keeping their slim hopes of a first title since 2019-20 alive. They trail leaders Inter by eight points with 12 games remaining.
