Kabuscorp SCP head coach Roberto Bianchi has reserved special praise for Kaizer Chiefs after the Soweto giants eliminated his team from the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Angolan outfit fell to a 5-4 defeat on penalties following a one-all draw across two legs, as Glody Lilepo scored the crucial goal for Amakhosi in the return leg last Saturday.
In the wake of their exit, Bianchi made an honest admission that Chiefs is a highly competitive opponent, highlighting the high standard of the Betway Premiership.
“The rival [Chiefs] was a high-level rival. We know that the competition in South Africa, the local league, is very strong. Chiefs is in the top three, so we didn’t play against just any rival,” said the Kabuscorp mentor.
The former Petro de Luanda boss went on to suggest they would have preferred to avoid the Glamour Boys in the first preliminary round.
“I am sure in this first round there were rivals much inferior to Kaizer Chiefs, but we had to dance with the ugliest [toughest]. There were teams that were above Kaizer Chiefs, but we faced the best,” Bianchi added.
The 2025 Angolan Cup winners will now switch their focus to the Girabola, where they are set to tackle Luanda City on Friday, 03 October.
