Kaio Jorge hits back at fan after Cruzeiro draw, with Flamengo ties looming | OneFootball

Under pressure after a 0-0 Copa do Brasil draw at Chapecoense, Cruzeiro forward Kaio Jorge hit back at abuse from a supporter on social media.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the 24-year-old, goalless in his last three games, wrote that scoring is not as simple as drinking water, arguing defenders do not leave him unmarked and he does not receive five chances a match.

He failed to score against Chapecoense, Coritiba and Botafogo across the Copa do Brasil and Brasileirão. His last goal came on 22 July against Internacional at Beira-Rio. He played 90 minutes in two of those matches and 85 in the other.

Despite the criticism, he remains Cruzeiro’s top scorer this season with 13 goals in 30 appearances. Fitness problems have hampered him this year, so he has not matched his 2025 form.

Flamengo meet Cruzeiro in the Libertadores round of 16 on 12 and 19, first at the Mineirão then at the Maracanã, both 21:30 Brasília time. Flamengo fans will hope his drought lasts at least until then.

Before that, Cruzeiro host Chapecoense in the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday, then Mirassol in the Brasileirão on Sunday, both at the Mineirão. On the same day, Flamengo face Vitória in the Brasileirão at the Maracanã.
