Kaizer Chiefs have addressed the swirling reports regarding the impeding departure of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
The Tunisian mentor is expected to depart the Soweto giants on a mutual separation after an already-strained relationship was taken to the limits.
Chiefs reportedly suspended Nabi after the midweek defeat to Sekhukhune United, questioning his coaching credentials to oversee CAF Inter-club matches.
However, it has also been said the former Young Africans and FAR Rabat boss opted against facing DC in favor of termination and retuning to Tunisia to be with his wife, who was involved in a car accident last month.
Now, Amakhosi have confirmed that Nabi is not part of the team at the moment, fueling speculations about his exit at the club.
“Kaizer Chiefs confirms that Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi is currently not with the team as discussions between the Club and the Coach remain ongoing. The matter is internal in nature and is being addressed through the appropriate processes,” read the club statement.
“The Club remains focused on ensuring stability and continuity for the players and supporters during this period. As this is an internal matter, no further details will be shared at this stage.
“We appreciate the continued support and understanding of our supporters and the broader football community. Any updates will be communicated through official Club channels when appropriate.
Chiefs are currently in Angola where they are set to take on Kubascorp in the first leg of the first preliminary round in the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
