Harry Kane delivered another unforgettable performance as Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 3-0 in the DFB-Pokal final to lift the trophy for a record-extending 21st time.
Stuttgart actually made the brighter start in Berlin, pressing aggressively and causing Bayern a few early problems. Jonas Urbig, deputising for the injured Manuel Neuer, was forced into action midway through the first half when he produced an excellent save to deny Maximilian Mittelstadt’s powerful low strike.
Despite Stuttgart’s positive opening, Bayern gradually settled into the match and began to take control. The breakthrough arrived 10 minutes after the restart when Michael Olise whipped a superb cross into the box for Kane, who was left completely unmarked to head home from close range.
That goal shifted the momentum firmly in Bayern’s favour and Stuttgart struggled to recover. Kane doubled the lead with 10 minutes remaining after spinning brilliantly inside the area before drilling a low finish past Alexander Nübel.
The England captain then completed his hat-trick in stoppage time from the penalty spot after Angelo Stiller was penalised for handball.
The win caps a dominant domestic campaign for Vincent Kompany’s side, who end the season with yet another major trophy.
