Karl Darlow is closing in on a free move to Manchester United, with a back-up role awaiting at Old Trafford. Reports suggest the 35-year-old will reject Leeds United’s offer of a new deal. He came out of contract at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The Athletic reports talks are at an advanced stage with finer details still to settle, while Sky Sports says Darlow has agreed personal terms and passed a medical. He has spent the past three years at Elland Road.

If he does sign, he is expected to be number two to Senne Lammens. Andre Onana has already joined Trabzonspor on loan and Altay Bayindir is expected to move on. Young goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who spent last season at Bristol City, wants a transfer for first-team football.

Darlow’s Leeds prospects for this season were unclear despite him superseding Lucas Perri to become first choice last term. The Whites have been linked with Japan international Zion Suzuki, Sweden’s Jacob Widell Zetterstrom and Manchester City back-up James Trafford.

The Northampton-born goalkeeper started the final 17 Premier League games, taking his Leeds total to 38 appearances. Leeds still have Perri and are reported to have agreed a two-year deal with Alex Cairns. Illan Meslier has joined Arsenal on a free transfer.
