Kayke is targeting a sustained run in Corinthians’ starting XI under Fernando Diniz after starring in Thursday’s 2-0 Libertadores win over Platense.
He completed three of four dribbles, won six of eight duels and was named player of the match. According to Meu Timao, that display leaves him likely to keep his place until Memphis Depay returns, with the forward recovering from a grade 2 thigh injury and no date set.
Backed by Diniz since his arrival, he was trusted to start and he opened the scoring from a Garro pass, outpacing two defenders then dinking the goalkeeper.
He has not enjoyed a run of starts since August 2025, when he began three matches in a row. That sequence started with a 2-1 loss at Bahia in the 20th round of the Brasileirão, then a 3-2 win over Vasco, and ended with a 1-0 victory against Athletico Paranaense in the Copa do Brasil.
During that spell he partnered Gui Negão because Yuri Alberto and Memphis Depay were sidelined. As regulars returned, Gui Negão took greater prominence and Kayke reverted to the bench under Dorival Júnior.
On current form and with the manager’s trust, he could now piece together a fresh run among the starters. Corinthians host Palmeiras on Sunday at 18:30 at Neo Química Arena in the 11th round of the Brasileirão.
