Kelly Clark is a player who has achieved so much in her time at Celtic FC Women, and last weekend marked another landmark for the defender, who made her 350th appearances for the club.

It came in the Scottish capital as Elena Sadiku’s side travelled to face Spartans in the Sky Sports Cup, a game the Hoops won 3-1.

And speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Clark insisted it was a special day and honour to reach that many appearances for the Hoops.

She said: “It’s an amazing feeling to make my 350th appearance. It’s a pretty scary number if, I’m being honest.

“On one hand, I don’t feel old enough to have done it, but on the other hand, I feel really old.

“It’s an amazing landmark to hit and I’m just grateful to get the chance to pull on the jersey that many times and play for this wonderful club.

‘It’s a real honour, and it’s a special day.’

“When I first signed, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself in for, I can’t lie. So many years, and appearances later, its pretty crazy.

“It’s been an amazing journey, one that I wouldn’t change very much of. I’m still loving it.

“I absolutely love playing on a Sunday. It’s hard, but it’s just amazing. I’m just so grateful.

“So many people would dream of playing for Celtic once, and I’m just so fortunate to have done it so many times.”

The Celtic skipper was also delighted that she able to marke the milestone game with a victory, which is always her top priority over any personal accolades or achievements.

“Spartans made it difficult," she said. "We didn’t play at the standard that we wanted to play at, but sometimes that happens.

“The most important thing is that we are in the hat for the next round of the cup.

“We will go in and analyse it. We know we can be better and we set our standards much higher than that.

‘But like I say, the main thing at the end of the day is that we are through to the next round now.’

“Ainslie Park is always a difficult place to come. There has been many a result here in Spartans favour. They feel at home here, and they make it intimidating and they always have done that.

“I think if you ask anybody in the league when Spartans were in there, if there was an away game that they didn’t particularly enjoy, this would be one of the ones that would come up.

“Like I say, Spartans have made it home. They always play well here and make it difficult for you.

“So you’ve just got to come here and get a result. In the second half especially, we put in a professional performance and got the job done.”
