Kenzo Kies drowns in the Rhône at La Feyssine | OneFootball

Young professional footballer Kenzo Kies drowned while swimming with two friends in the Rhône at La Feyssine, where bathing is prohibited.

According to Le Progres, the young forward was swept into whirlpools, remained underwater for 50 minutes, then was hospitalised in a state of brain death.

The site is considered extremely dangerous, with powerful eddies capable of dragging even seasoned swimmers to the riverbed.

On Monday 22 June, at about 17:30, with temperatures nearing 40C, the trio ignored warning signs on the beach and took a buoy into the water.

All three were in their twenties.
