According to Superdeporte, Kervin Arriaga has left Levante for AEK in a deal close to €5 million, a timely boost given they paid €500,000 one year ago.
His omission against Espanyol signalled the move was well advanced. While the squad returned from Barcelona, the 28-year-old headed for Athens.
The Honduran midfielder impressed last season. A strong first half under Calero made him a standout, then, despite fitness issues in January and February, he became pivotal to Luís Castro’s survival push.
Levante’s financial strain had left several signings unregistered even after LaLiga kicked off. Arriaga’s exit will balance the club’s fair play and allow full registration. Combined with Carlos Espí’s switch to Real Madrid, it eases debt and lifts the outlook.
Arriaga was welcomed on arrival in the Greek capital. He will now compete for a midfield place with Sahabo, Marin, Kairinen and Vitalis, with the latter two recent additions.
