Huddersfield Town sealed a 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night
Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle has offered praise to manager Lee Grant following the team’s 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.
The Terriers have made a strong start to life under their new manager, with their sights set on a promotion push again this year.
Grant has overseen three wins from his first four league games, with victory over Rovers getting the side back on form after last weekend’s 3-2 loss to Blackpool.
Ben Wiles opened the scoring in the 78th minute, before Joe Taylor sealed all three points six minutes later by converting from the penalty spot.
Nagle has posted praise for Huddersfield’s performance at home on Tuesday night on social media, in particular highlighting the second half display.
The US businessman has made it clear how he feels about Grant’s start to life in charge of the Yorkshire outfit, with the club targeting a return to the Championship this year.
“I am really happy how Lee took control at the half, made adjustments and came away with 3 points,” wrote Nagle, via his personal X account.
“We give credit to Doncaster the first half but they were outplayed the second half including being guilty of a penalty - pure and simple.
“We make no excuses.”
Huddersfield are targeting promotion back to the Championship at the second attempt after an underwhelming 10th place finish last season.
Grant was appointed as manager over the summer, with the former goalkeeper taking on the role for the first time in his coaching career.
The 42-year-old previously worked as a coach at Ipswich Town, where he worked under Kieran McKenna as the team earned back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.
Next up for Huddersfield is a home clash against Stevenage on 23 August in a 3pm kick-off.
Losing to Blackpool last weekend was quite a poor result, particularly given they spent almost an hour playing against 10-men with a 3-2 scoreline and failed to take advantage.
But the team responded on Tuesday night with a good win, and Grant is showing a lot of promise as manager so far.
It is set to be a very competitive promotion battle this year, and it is still far too early in the campaign to say if Huddersfield will definitely be in the mix.
However, the Terriers have made a strong start and look capable of remaining in contention all the way to the end of the campaign.
