La Liga giants Atlético Madrid will not be forced to contend with the talents of a leading member of the midfield ranks at Arsenal in their upcoming showdown with Mikel Arteta’s side.

The player in question? Martin Ødegaard.

Midfielder Ødegaard recently suffered a fresh fitness setback.

Amid what has been a difficult opening to the campaign for the Norwegian on the injury front, he was forced to limp out of a Premier League meeting with West Ham United with a knee injury.

After a round of medical tests, the extent of the problem was revealed by Arsenal on Monday.

Ødegaard, it is reported, will not be available for selection again until the far side of the November international break.

This means that the former Real Madrid man will miss his side’s upcoming Champions League showdown with Atlético Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s troops are primed to make the trip to north London on October 21st.
