La Liga giants Barcelona will not be forced to contend with the talents of Chelsea star Cole Palmer in the upcoming meeting between the sides.
This comes amid confirmation of the Englishman suffering a somewhat bizarre injury setback.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday afternoon, Enzo Maresca was asked for the latest on the fitness situation in Chelsea’s squad.
And the tactician went on to reveal that midfielder Palmer has suffered a broken toe:
“Cole Palmer has a fractured toe after an accident at home. He is probably not available for Burnley… Barcelona or Arsenal, for sure. His toe it’s fractured… Cole was almost back from the groin injury but now he has this small issue”.
Barcelona are of course primed to make the trip to Stamford Bridge next week.
With sights on a return to winning ways on the continent following a 3-3 stalemate with Club Brugge last time out, a Champions League showdown with Club World Cup champions Chelsea lies in wait for Hansi Flick’s troops.
