Leeds United face a summer of balancing signings, sales and contracts as the transfer window opens under new cost controls.
According to Leeds Live, free agents Harry Wilson and Julian Brandt have surfaced as targets, Wilson familiar after last summer’s pursuit and Brandt a long shot.
Both are aged 29 and 30, and would arrive beyond their peaks, but free deals would aid the books.
New Squad Cost Ratio rules are expected to leave Leeds slightly worse off this summer, with long-term benefits not easing immediate pressures.
Chairman Paraag Marathe has stressed there will be sales. Joel Piroe is widely expected to depart and Wilfried Gnonto could follow.
The plan is to add higher-calibre starters, with this window focused on raising the ceiling after last season’s push to bulk the squad.
Contract calls also loom. The 49ers appear intent on opening talks with Daniel Farke over new terms, which will only help summer business.
Karl Darlow is in renewal discussions, and Pascal Struijk could follow given he has one year left.
Decisions are due on returning loanees Largie Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt. Fiorentina are not expected to trigger Jack Harrison’s £6m clause, and he could ask to leave.
Youngsters Harry Gray, Rhys Chadiwck and Charlie Cresswell may be lined up for loans. Many moving parts remain.
