Bayern Munich received a boost on Saturday as Kingsley Coman returned to the squad after being on the sidelines for the last couple of weeks due to injury. Coman came off the bench in the 81st minute on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund.
The French winger will be in the travelling squad for Wednesday’s second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Inter Milan. Coman has a knack for scoring goals in big games, so Kompany will be pleased to see him return to the squad this weekend.
However, Coman’s long-term future looks away from Munich. According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Coman wants to leave Bayern in the summer. The French winger will bring an end to a successful decade in Bavaria.
Saudi Arabian clubs are alerted by Coman’s interest in leaving Bayern in the summer. The officials of the Saudi Arabian club will visit Munich to explore the conditions of a potential transfer in the summer. Coman was attracting interest from Saudi Arabia during the last summer transfer window, but he decided to stay in Munich for one more season.
There was significant interest in Coman from the Premier League last summer. Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing him. The North London side remain interested in the French winger, but they will face competition from their city rivals.
Plettenberg has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Coman. The French winger’s substantial wages could be a stumbling block for Spurs. Bayern have a good relationship with Spurs after completing deals for Harry Kane, Mathys Tel, and Eric Dier over the last two years, which may give them the edge over Arsenal.
Coman is expected to attract interest from several other big clubs in the summer. The French winger is a quality winger who works hard in and out of possession. His injury problems have gradually decreased over the years. Coman will certainly be a quality signing for several big clubs across Europe.
Bayern are open to parting ways with Coman in the summer as they look to raise funds from sales. Coman is also one of the big earners in the squad, so parting ways with him will help Die Roten to make space for the new signings.
In an ideal scenario, Bayern get a fee of €35-40 million for Coman in the summer. They already have several players on the list to strengthen the wide position. Marseille winger Luis Henrique is the top target for Die Roten to replace Coman, while the likes of Jamie Gittens and Nico Williams also feature on Bayern’s list of targets for the summer. Along with Coman, Bayern are also expected to part ways with Serge Gnabry at the end of the season.
