Sevilla’s hunt for reinforcements has fresh momentum after Giorgi Kochorashvili and George Ilenikhena were omitted from their clubs’ weekend squads. Talks for the Georgian midfielder are progressing, while the striker’s position remains more complex.
Zona Mixta reports that Kochorashvili was left out by Sporting Club de Portugal for their Primeira Liga opener against Vitória de Guimarães, a decision that has fuelled speculation over a move to Nervión.
ABC de Sevilla reports Sporting have sought to raise the cost after Sevilla’s initial proposal of a loan with an option near four million euros. The Portuguese side want a loan fee or a higher option, and Sevilla are weighing alternatives, including a permanent transfer.
The midfielder’s non-selection for Sporting’s first official match strengthens the sense he could leave Lisbon, though the financial terms still need resolving. Sevilla are targeting a replacement profile following Djibril Sow’s exit.
The picture is different with Ilenikhena. On Tuesday he featured for Al-Ittihad in Asian Champions League qualifying, a 1-4 win over Al Jazira of Abu Dhabi, coming on in the 72nd minute for Youssef En-Nesyri.
He was then omitted from Al-Ittihad’s squad for the Al-Kholood Club match at the weekend, reviving talk of a return to Europe. Sevilla have monitored him and the player would be open to coming back, but Al-Ittihad value the forward and will not let him go cheaply.
