Koeman converts late penalty as Telstar climb to 14th | OneFootball

Telstar beat Volendam 2-1 at Kras Stadion as goalkeeper Ronald Koeman converted a late penalty, a result that lifts the visitors from 15th to 14th.

In the second minute Anthony Descotte put Volendam ahead, rifling in from outside the box after a neat pass by Juninho Bacuna.

On the stroke of half time Danny Bakker levelled for Telstar with a glancing header from Jeff Hardeveld's set piece delivery (44.).

Koeman was busy after the restart, making a string of saves as Volendam pressed through Henk Veerman and others.

A penalty was awarded when Bakker was fouled in the box (85.). VAR confirmed the spot kick (86.), and Koeman slotted into the bottom right corner from 12 yards (89.).

Nine minutes of second half stoppage time were indicated, and Koeman preserved the lead with late stops from Dave Kwakman and Robert Mühren.

Volendam registered 17 attempts, with eight on target. Telstar produced seven attempts and defended 35 clearances.

The result leaves Volendam 16th and heading for the relegation play-offs. Telstar close out the campaign 14th.
