Vincent Kompany has hailed Michael Olise’s rise ahead of Bayern’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid.
Bayern carry a 2-1 lead from the first leg at the Bernabeu into Wednesday’s return. Olise has 17 goals and 29 assists in 42 games this season and, according to BuLi News, Kompany said the 24-year-old French winger is on a path to become one of the world’s best if he maintains it.
“We see him every day and he does it at the highest level in the Champions League. He’ll surely be one of the best in the world one day,” Kompany said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“He’s on the right track now. Everything he does is right. His level now is one of the best in Europe. But if I said now he’s the best, people will ask how many titles he’s won. He needs to keep going as he has done over the last 18 months. If he keeps going, we’ll see what becomes of him.”
Bayern will hope Olise delivers again against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
