Kompany confirms Goretzka and Neuer to start against Köln | OneFootball

Vincent Kompany says Leon Goretzka and Manuel Neuer will start for Bayern Munich against 1. FC Köln on Saturday, the club’s final Bundesliga fixture before next week’s DFB-Pokal final against VfB Stuttgart.

According to BuLi News, Goretzka is set to make one last Bundesliga start for Bayern against Köln.

Kompany stressed the selection is not a favour, calling it recognition earned through years of work for the club. He framed it as a gesture the squad can relate to, noting that everything ends and that this time it is Goretzka’s turn.

He added that, if Bayern are not in front, Goretzka might come off earlier, a possibility they have already discussed.

The Belgian also confirmed Neuer will start in goal, so former Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig will not feature this time. Kompany acknowledged the occasion might feel emotional, but said Urbig will have plenty more chances to face Köln.
