FC Bayern bid farewell to the Christmas break with a sober but confident away win. A concentrated, composed performance in Heidenheim was enough for the Munich side to continue their impressive run and add another exclamation mark to the end of the year.
The 4-0 win at 1. FC Heidenheim means the German record champions go into the winter break with a positive feeling all round. Vincent Kompany’s team not only consolidated their lead at the top of the table, but once again underlined their exceptional consistency away from home. FC Bayern remained unbeaten away from home in the Bundesliga for the entire 2025 calendar year, with twelve wins and four draws to their name – a record that impressively documents how stable and mature this team has become.
Such a clean sheet on foreign pitches over the course of an entire calendar year is a rarity, even on the record champions‘ scale. Previously, this feat had only been achieved twice in the club’s history, in 1986 and 2013. The fact that the current team has now advanced into this exclusive circle is an expression of a development based on reliability, control and efficiency – even when the really big matchday gala fails to materialise.

In addition, Munich have set another historic mark in the German top flight. For the first time in the history of the Bundesliga, a team has consistently finished top of the table at the end of every single matchday of an entire calendar year. FC Bayern have thus not only temporarily but permanently cemented their place at the top.
The end of the year in Heidenheim was emblematic of this dominance. Without shining, but with maximum consistency, Bayern did their duty and never left any doubt about the outcome of the game. It is precisely this mixture of control, maturity and certainty of results that makes the current FC Bayern so difficult to attack – both nationally and internationally.
The record champions now go into the Christmas break with this attitude and with a clear signal to the competition that their place at the top is not only defended, but firmly reserved.
