Promoted with two matches to spare, Troyes sealed their Ligue 1 return with a 3-0 win at Geoffroy-Guichard on Saturday, built on 18 prior victories. L'Équipe notes that several resurgent individuals have underpinned the rise.
Merwan Ifnaoui said they are not on holiday yet and that there is a title to chase. Stéphane Dumont’s team host Laval on Saturday, then travel to Grenoble the following week.
Hillel Konaté stepped in on 17 October after Nicolas Lemaître damaged an anterior cruciate ligament against Bastia. The 31-year-old, long a back-up, has conceded 20 in 21 league games with seven clean sheets, and has four caps for Burkina Faso.
Captain Adrien Monfray, appointed last summer, celebrates a first Ligue 1 promotion at 35. The former CA Bastia defender rose from National to Ligue 2 in his debut season and has played 364 Ligue 2 matches.
Left winger Mathys Detourbet has 31 Ligue 2 appearances, three goals and six assists at 18, turning 19 on Wednesday. Manchester City, flagship of the City Group that Estac belong to, are in pole position for a player contracted until 2028.
Tawfik Bentayeb leads the scoring on 18, three clear of Guingamp’s Louis Mafouta on 15, which could secure the crown. It would reward the 24-year-old Moroccan, on loan from Touarga, who shone last season at Rodez. Renaud Ripart, 33, signed a one-year deal in late September after a right knee cruciate rupture in January and, emblem of Nîmes’s 2018 climb, has returned.
