Kouame’s deadline-day move to Hellas Verona collapsed at the last moment.

According to Football Italia, the Fiorentina striker was initially on the verge of joining Cagliari in the final hour before that deal fell away and Verona stepped in.

Verona put pen to paper on a loan and lodged it with Lega Serie A just before the cut-off, but the contract lacked key details so it could not be registered.

The 28-year-old Ivory Coast international is under contract with the Viola until June 2027 and has made only four competitive appearances this season.

He has been seeking more minutes while regaining fitness after a serious knee injury last year.

It is now likely he will either terminate his deal by mutual consent to become a free agent, or try to find a club in a league where the window is still open.
