El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that PSG’s Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been named Champions League Player of the Season for 2025-26, with Real Madrid’s Arda Güler selected as breakout player by UEFA’s Technical Observers. The competition concluded on Saturday with Paris Saint-Germain lifting the trophy for the second year running.
Kvaratskhelia delivered 10 goals and six assists across the campaign, underpinning PSG’s back-to-back triumph.
His standout display came in the 5-4 first-leg semi-final win over Bayern, where he curled in the 1-1 equaliser then struck powerfully after the break to complete his brace.
He was influential in the final against Arsenal, drawing a foul from Cristian Mosquera that led to a penalty converted by Ousmane Dembélé to level it at 1-1 for Luis Enrique’s side.
Arda Güler, a Turkish midfielder, 21, was recognised for a significant step forward in 2025-26. After starting only one of seven matches the previous season, he started 13 this time and made 14 appearances in total.
UEFA introduced the breakout accolade to replace Young Player of the Season, aiming to reward notable progress within a single campaign rather than youngsters already established at elite level.
