Leeds United reached the FA Cup semi-finals with a 4-2 penalty win at West Ham after a 2-2 draw, surviving a wild finish.

Daniel Farke’s side led 2-0 through Ao Tanaka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin entering 11 minutes of added time, before Matheus Fernandes and Axel Disasi forced extra time. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, strikes from Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe in extra time were ruled offside.

Joel Piroe and Jarrod Bowen missed the first penalties. Leeds then converted through Calvert-Lewin, Brenden Aaronson, Willy Gnonto and Pascal Struijk, while Pablo Felipe failed for West Ham. Keeper Perri, outstanding, made two saves.

Farke mostly picked regulars but fringe players delivered. Tanaka impressed and scored, Perri produced big moments, and Gnonto’s cameo carried menace and a cool penalty.

Game management remains a concern. The board showed 11 added minutes and West Ham needed only seven to level. Leeds have shipped 11 goals after 90 this season across all competitions, more than any other Premier League side.

There was a cost. Anton Stach and Joe Rodon went off with ankle knocks, Stach after a heavy Max Kilman challenge and Rodon when caught at a corner, with Stach later on crutches in a protective boot. Farke said Rodon rolled his ankle and will be assessed, felt Stach should have had a penalty and probably has a ligament issue, and hopes it is not too bad after he had been running the game.
