Kylian Mbappé will return to the Real Madrid squad for Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 second leg at Manchester City after three weeks out, according to L'Équipe.

Working closely with the Madrid staff, he had targeted this second leg for his comeback, pushing to shorten his absence for a tie that is pivotal to Real’s European campaign.

On Friday, head coach Alvaro Arbeloa said Mbappé looked in good shape, was improving by the day and that he wanted him in Manchester, with a final decision due on Sunday.

The France captain completed full training on Monday and, by mutual agreement, will join the travelling party.

He is not expected to start. With Madrid leading 3-0 from the first leg, the plan is to use him only if the game turns against them.

After missing five matches in all competitions, his inclusion alone offers Madrid extra belief and presents City with an added threat.
