Kylian Mbappé (27) has now recovered from his knee issue, however, the France captain no longer wishes to be treated by Real Madrid’s doctors, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Mbappé had been struggling with a knee issue since December. With the situation not improving, he headed to Paris earlier this month for treatment. That allowed him to return for Real Madrid’s final two games before the international break. He has also joined up with his international teammates for friendlies against Brazil and Colombia in the USA.
Reports have emerged regarding Real Madrid’s mismanagement of Mbappé’s knee injury, with The Athletic and RMC Sport reporting that the La Liga club initially treated the wrong knee. The France captain denied that was the case on Wednesday. There is also a feeling that Mbappé was rushed back from the sprain to his left knee, meaning that it was not fully healed.
And with this episode, a level of trust has seemingly eroded, and not just for Mbappé. The trust between the medical department and the Real Madrid squad has been broken for several years, L’Equipe understands.
After his treatment in Paris, Mbappé personally called Florentino Perez to inform him that he no longer wanted to be treated by Real Madrid’s doctors, but only by Christophe Baudot, whom he knows from his time at Paris Saint-Germain. It was Baudot who devised the latest round of treatment, which facilitated the Frenchman’s return to the pitch, without any lingering pain.
