Kylian Mbappe to become the centerpiece of new Real Madrid team under Jose Mourinho | OneFootball

Real Madrid have one of the most exciting forward lines in the entire footballing world, as it boasts the presence of some of the biggest names in European football, including the likes Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham. Meanwhile, it also has a very capable support structure, with players like Brahim Diaz, Rodrygo Goes, Gonzalo Garcia, Franco Mastantuono, and Endrick, who is set to rejoin the team for the next season.

Still, owing to several different issues, their attack has not been able to perform at the level expected of such a star-studded forward line. In fact, this presence of two of the biggest stars in European football , Mbappe and Vinicius, could itself be one of the problems, as they both, understandably, want to be the focal points of the white team’s attack.

The three last managers of the Merengue team, Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, and Alvaro Arbeloa, have all approached this problem in different ways. Now it remains to be seen how the new coach, Jose Mourinho, would address this issue.

But, several weeks before the Portuguese manager is set to start his training regimen at Real Madrid, a report from Diario AS claims that Kylian Mbappe is going to be the focal player of the next Merengue project, and the team would be formed around him.

This is what the club is planning, and this is already apparent from their choice of reinforcements they have got so far this summer. Ibrahima Konate is one of his teammates with the French national team, while he also shares a good relationship with Bernardo Silva, going back to the time when they were both playing for Monaco.

Meanwhile, his role on the pitch is also going to change, as he would move a bit deeper, and not play as a traditional number 9. He would get to have more involvement in build-up play, and, as he himself recently identified as an area where he needs to improve, would also have more defensive duties.

It remains to be seen how this plan would pan out, but with the form he has shown in the last two seasons and during the World Cup, it is easily understandable why Real Madrid want Kylian Mbappe to be their team’s flag-bearer going forward.
