Kylian Mbappé played 45 minutes in France's friendly against Côte d'Ivoire in Nantes on Thursday and did not score, so his wait to become France's all-time leading scorer continues.
He had an early chance in the sixth minute but did not particularly impress before the break. According to L'Équipe, Didier Deschamps replaced the 27-year-old at half-time as a precaution and to spread minutes, with 10 substitutions permitted, mindful of the World Cup from 11 June to 19 July.
Mbappé passed the captain's armband to N'Golo Kanté when he left.
The Real Madrid forward remains on 56 international goals, one behind Olivier Giroud, who leads France's scoring charts with 57.
This appearance was his 97th cap, drawing him level with Laurent Blanc, Bixente Lizarazu and Karim Benzema. He now sits inside the top 10 of the most capped French players.
