La Cerámica footbridge could start between December and January, says Vila-real mayor | OneFootball

The planned footbridge linking Estadio de la Cerámica to a new building could begin installation between December and January, with the aim of completing this phase in February.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, mayor José Benlloch told the municipal plenary the link will connect the ground to a building on Plaza Pascual Font de Mora, set to include new dressing rooms, hospitality areas and parking spaces as part of the next stage of works.

He said the remodel responds to safety guidance from the police, UEFA and FIFA as the club return to Champions, stressing that nothing is considered substandard but the advice sets out a roadmap for improvements.

Inside the stadium, work is focused on refurbishing the dressing rooms and enlarging vomitories and emergency exits to improve evacuation and prevent congestion.

Benlloch addressed concerns from neighbours, who submitted a letter with around 200 signatures, and underlined that the project does not increase the stadium’s capacity. He added the footbridge cannot proceed immediately because it requires urban planning and environmental approvals, including a modification of the General Urban Development Plan and an environmental report. He noted the governing board has already approved the environmental study with the necessary changes.
