A month ago, a little bit more than that, we discussed here on MLSMultiplex the possibility of Gabriel Pec beign the next multi-million dollar transfer for the LA Galaxy.
In our latest report, there was a rumour involving Atletico Madrid and Napoli, two crucial clubs from the old continent, that asked for conditions about the Brazilian player.
However, those two clubs didn’t move, and Pec was staying in LA.
Now, we are here to discuss the most recent news from Gabriel Pec and his new possible destiny, which is outside of the MLS, but it’s not Europe.
According to Tom Bogert, the LA Galaxy has confirmed the transfer of the 25-year-old Brazilian to a South American team.
As the aforementioned journalist mentioned through social media, Cruzeiro has acquired Gabriel Pec for a record-breaking amount.
Bogert reported that the deal was based on a $12 million fee plus a $ 1.5 million add-on.
With this news, Pec won’t be exported to the Old Continent, but to the Brasileirão Série A, where he will participate, at the moment, in next year’s CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage.
The Galaxy bought Pec from Vasco Da Gama in 2024.
As a cliché, Pec can play on both wings and capitalize on his skills, speed, and ability to score and create chances to make the most of every Galaxy attack.
During his first season with the LA club, the right winger won the 2024 Newcomer of the Year and helped lead the team to the MLS Cup.
This transfer raises the big question of what the LA Galaxy's next move will be.
By selling one of their best players, they have created enough financial room to bring in an experienced player with a history at some of Europe's biggest clubs.
In the last couple of hours, with Egypt’s recent elimination, many outlets suggest the name Mohammed Salah.
This could make sense, both Salah and Pec played in the same position, and his recent departure opened a slot for the Galaxy to fill with a great footballer.
Adding that the former Liverpool FC legend is deciding between the Saudi League and the MLS, while also being a free agent.
I know the Egyptian winger will ask to be one of the highest-paid players in the league.
However, given the amount for which the 25-year-old was recently sold, Salah will likely request a possible higher salary, and the team needs him to rebound in the second part of the regular season.
