According to Roberto Gomez in MARCA, Getafe are showing strong interest in Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia and could push for a move in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Gomez revealed that the club has already made inquiries about the player’s situation.

“Getafe will ask for him again,” said Gomez, adding that their president [Angel Torres] maintains a good relationship with the forward’s representatives.

He also explained the reason behind Getafe’s interest: “Xabi Alonso doesn’t give him any playing time, he plays very little.”

The journalist also gave his opinion on the matter, stating, “He should leave in December, but I don’t think he will.”

Nevertheless, he stressed that Getafe are unlikely to give up as “Angel Torres will ask for him again.”

While there is public and fan pressure for Gonzalo to remain at Real Madrid, Gómez believes a change of scenery could benefit the player’s development.

“The player’s entourage wants to defend his interests, but I think he should leave… but he’s not going to leave,” he added.

Getafe not the only one

It is important to note that Getafe are not the only club eyeing the young forward. Real Betis have reportedly approached Real Madrid to explore a potential loan deal.

The club sees a loan as a strategic move, providing Gonzalo with valuable La Liga experience while keeping him under close supervision.

Real Madrid, fully aware of his potential, have no intention of selling him permanently.

Gonzalo recently extended his contract until 2030, and the plan is to ensure he gains significant playing time and responsibilities in attack, whether at Betis or another interested club like Como.

For Gonzalo, consistent minutes on the pitch are crucial.

While his long-term goal remains to succeed at Real Madrid, he recognises that gaining experience elsewhere could accelerate his development, allowing him to return stronger and more prepared to make an impact at the Santiago Bernabeu.
