As we enter the new year, La Liga have taken a firm stance. Dani Olmo and Pau Victor’s profiles, along with their respective squad numbers (20 and 17), have now disappeared from La Liga’s official website.
On the other hand, Andreas Christensen still appears on the site, despite his registration being revoked earlier in August due to a long-term injury. This move paved the way for Olmo’s registration from the third matchday.
The situation with Olmo and Victor stems from Barcelona’s ongoing salary limitations, which have hindered their ability to register both players for the entire season.
FC Barcelona have removed Dani Olmo from their website.
Their contracts were only valid until December 31, 2024. With that date now passed, La Liga has acted in line with its regulations, as outlined in the statement released on December 31.
According to La Liga, FC Barcelona have not provided an alternative solution that meets the economic control criteria necessary for player registration after January 2.
Yesterday, Barcelona officials were busy gathering additional information regarding the contracts and payment guarantees linked to the sale of VIP seats at Spotify Camp Nou, as per La Liga’s request.
However, sources close to the situation have revealed that the employers’ association was unable to confirm that all the expected income had been received.
Pau Victor has been removed too.
As a result, FC Barcelona made an official statement on December 31, revealing that they had submitted a request to the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) for a new license for both Olmo and Victor.
Despite this, Federation sources have clarified that no player can be granted a federation license without La Liga’s approval, which has not yet been obtained.
However, FC Barcelona remain hopeful, with club sources suggesting that a full explanation of the situation will be provided on January 3.
This could open up the possibility of both players continuing to feature for Barcelona this season. For now, however, it is clear that neither Olmo nor Victor are included in the official squad on La Liga’s website.
