La Liga returns to TVE as Teledeporte shows one free match each matchday | OneFootball

RTVE has agreed a deal with DAZN to show one La Liga match free to air on Teledeporte each matchday, returning the league to public television after 10 years.

The free-to-air coverage begins on Friday 16 January at 21:00. The first fixture is Espanyol v Girona.

The next free games are Levante v Elche on matchday 21 and Mallorca v Sevilla on matchday 22.

In a statement, RTVE said the agreement strengthens its commitment to free-to-air sport and consolidates Teledeporte as a reference channel, a home for La Liga teams not in European competition.

Teams due to feature include Sevilla, Real Sociedad, Espanyol, Mallorca, Osasuna and Alavés. Others, among them Athletic, Villarreal, Betis, Celta de Vigo and Rayo Vallecano, will join once their continental participation ends.

RTVE has a long top-flight football tradition, airing La Liga since 1963 and a weekly match until the 1989-90 season. The competition returned in 2015-16 and now resumes on a regular basis via Teledeporte.
