Spain’s World Cup campaign has started with more questions than answers, but one person who remains completely unfazed is Lamine Yamal.

The Barcelona superstar has delivered a message of confidence and unity after Spain’s frustrating goalless draw against Cape Verde, insisting that the national team will respond in the coming days and prove why they remain one of the favourites to challenge for the trophy.

Spain’s 0-0 draw against Cape Verde was one of the biggest surprises of the tournament’s opening round.

While many expected Spain to begin their World Cup journey with a comfortable victory, their less experienced opponent produced a disciplined and organised display that frustrated Luis de la Fuente’s side from start to finish.

Now, attention has shifted to Sunday’s crucial clash against Saudi Arabia, where Spain will look to secure their first win of the competition.

Yamal set for bigger role against Saudi Arabia

One of the biggest talking points surrounding Spain has been the management of Yamal’s fitness.

The 18-year-old entered the tournament carrying a recent hamstring injury, prompting the coaching staff to take a cautious approach during the opening fixtures.

Rather than risk overloading one of their most important players, Spain have carefully controlled his minutes.

That was evident against Cape Verde, where the Barcelona forward was introduced from the bench and played only 19 minutes.

However, there is growing optimism that fans will see much more of him against Saudi Arabia.

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has already confirmed that the winger is expected to feature for around 45 minutes in the upcoming match as part of the gradual process of returning him to full fitness.

Despite the frustration surrounding the result, Yamal showed no signs of concern when speaking after the match.

Instead, the teenager focused on the response he expects from the squad and the importance of remaining united throughout the competition.

Addressing Spain supporters through Teledeporte, the Barcelona attacker said:

“A message to everyone who supported us in the last match? On Sunday, we will go to achieve that victory, and of course, we will bring out our playing style and show who we are.

“Together we will overcome everything. I’m also sure that we will all be together on July 19. See you soon, and a hug to everyone,” he added.
