FC Barcelona and Spain superstar Lamine Yamal has the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada firmly on his mind as he continues working towards full fitness ahead of the tournament.

The Barcelona winger, who has missed the club’s final month of competition because of a hamstring injury in his left leg, is continuing his recovery process in an attempt to be ready for the most prestigious competition in international football.

After spending several weeks focused on gym-based recovery work, the Barcelona academy graduate has now progressed further in his preparation.

On Wednesday, Lamine published a video on social media showing himself back on the grass and working with the ball at Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training complex.

The 18-year-old attacker is said to be feeling positive physically, while Barcelona’s medical staff are also satisfied with the work he has carried out during rehabilitation.

Although he was unable to participate in the final stages of the La Liga season, barring any further setbacks, he is now expected to be able to take part in his first World Cup.

Spain’s plan with Lamine

Lamine will be one of eight Barcelona players travelling to Madrid this weekend to begin preparations for the World Cup.

Following the squad announcement, La Roja manager De la Fuente explained that he hopes the winger will be in good enough physical condition for their opening match against Cape Verde on 15 June.

If that is not possible, the coach stated that he expects him to be available for the second fixture against Saudi Arabia on 21 June.
