FC Barcelona secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano last Sunday, ensuring that their four-point lead at the top of the La Liga table remained intact.

Ronald Araujo scored the only goal of the game, with the Blaugrana attacking unit not firing on all cylinders on the afternoon.

Lamine Yamal’s outburst

Lamine Yamal, too, had a quiet outing at the Spotify Camp Nou compared to his usual standards. And understandably, the 18-year-old winger reacted with visible frustration after being substituted during the game against Rayo.

Television footage broadcast by DAZN (h/t SPORT) captured the moment the young forward was replaced in the 82nd minute by Marcus Rashford.

Upon seeing his number on the substitution board, Yamal avoided eye contact with head coach Hansi Flick and walked towards the bench clearly displeased.

As he left the pitch, he repeatedly expressed his disagreement with the decision, saying: “Always me… it is crazy,” repeatedly, making it clear that he did not understand the substitution at a stage when the match was still not fully secured.

The situation continued near the technical area, where members of the coaching staff, including Arnau Blanco, attempted to calm him without immediate success.

The winger continued to gesture towards the pitch, showing frustration and disbelief. Eventually, he distanced himself from the bench and watched the final minutes of the match from the players’ tunnel.

The reaction reflects Yamal’s competitive nature. After overcoming physical issues earlier in the season, he has become one of the team’s most decisive players, recording 21 goals and 15 assists. His reluctance to leave the field highlights his desire to remain involved at all times.

Within the club, such reactions are viewed as part of the player’s development.

Statistically speaking, Lamine has only been substituted in nine of the 37 matches he has started this season in all competitions.
