An attempted burglary at the home of Spanish wonderkid Lamine Yamal was thwarted hours after he helped his country reach just the second World Cup final in their history, according to reports.
Yamal, 19, played the full game as Spain beat France 2-0 in their semi-final in Dallas on Tuesday and Catalan news outlet La Vanguardia has reported that early on Wednesday morning two masked individuals tried to enter his property.
La Vanguardia reported the individuals were spotted perched on a wall of the property by private security guards, and that they fled when challenged by the guards, who then notified local police.
Yamal played a starring role in the win over France, winning the first-half penalty when he was fouled by Lucas Digne, with Mikel Oyarzabal converting the subsequent spot-kick. Yamal also had a goal disallowed in the second half for offside.
The Spanish federation (RFEF) has been contacted for comment.

Yamal won the European Championship with Spain in 2024 just one day after turning 17, and he will now get the chance to become a world champion at the age of 19 on Sunday.
Spain are set to face either England or Argentina in Sunday’s final, and are likely to enter the match as favourites following their impressive display against France.
Yamal has featured in all seven of Spain’s World Cup matches this summer, despite entering the tournament with a hamstring issue that forced him to miss the final weeks of the domestic season with Barcelona.
He scored in Spain’s second group game during a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia but is yet to find the net since.
However, he remains one of the key players in Spain’s team as they target a second World Cup triumph, 16 years on from their first.
Spain lifted the World Cup for the first time in 2010, beating the Netherlands 1-0 in the final, but had not won a knockout game at the World Cup since, prior to this summer’s tournament.
Now, they are just 90 minutes away from glory after seeing off Austria, Portugal, Belgium and France in the knockout stages.
