Largie Ramazani landed in Burundi on Tuesday. The winger, who spent last season at Valencia on loan from Leeds United, is visiting his family’s homeland and will play in a charity match organised by Saido Ntibazonkiza and Youssouf Ndayishimiye.
Aged 25 and born in Belgium, he is travelling with Burundi international Jordi Liongola, currently with La Louvière.
During his stay, he is expected to meet representatives of the Burundi Football Federation to discuss the game’s development and possible collaboration.
Supporters greeted him with banners urging a call-up to the national team. Ikiriho muri Sports reports that the federation want him to join, although any move would be complicated by his extensive youth career with Belgium.
Ramazani has played for Belgium from junior levels up to under-21, making eight appearances. At 25, he could yet push for a senior debut with the Red Devils, who will begin a rebuild after the 2026 World Cup.
He will need improved performances on recent seasons in England and Spain. For now, Burundi has welcomed him as a guest. Leeds head coach Daniel Farke does not plan to use him, and Valencia may have to wait a few weeks for Leeds to relax their terms on a possible return.
