Saints striker Cyle Larin has been awarded the Key to the City of Brampton in recognition of his achievements for club and country.

According to Daily Echo, the 31-year-old received the honour in his Canadian home city on Sunday night while on international duty.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown handed over the key at City Hall while wearing a Saints shirt, as hundreds gathered to celebrate his career.

Raised in Brampton, Larin became the first Canadian selected first overall in the MLS SuperDraft before moving to Europe.

He is among Canada's most decorated internationals, with a second-most 32 goals in 95 senior appearances.

He helped Canada qualify for the 2022 World Cup, then played a prominent role when the country hosted the tournament this summer.

Larin thanked family and friends for their guidance and support, and expressed pride in always being able to return to Brampton.

His mother, Patricia, reflected on his childhood and the places football has taken him, noting the city recognises his achievements and expressing her pride.

Since 2018 he has played in Türkiye, Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands after switching to European football.

He currently leads the Championship scoring charts and was named the division's Player of the Month for August.
