Lars Ricken says Borussia Dortmund could add more before window shuts | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund could still add to their squad before the new Bundesliga season, despite satisfaction with earlier business, says managing director Lars Ricken.

“First of all, we have quite a lot of players, and it was primarily our aim to compensate for the departures. We agreed that we have certainly succeeded in doing that with Joane Gadou and hopefully also Konstantinos Karetsas.” He told Sky after the club’s final pre-season friendly in Japan.

“They can help immediately, but also have plenty of development potential.” Gadou is expected to fill the central defensive gap left by Niklas Süle’s departure, while Karetsas has been identified as Julian Brandt’s long-term successor.

Ricken also said Dortmund could “do one or two more things” before the window closes.

That comment prompted questions about Said El Mala. He declined to be drawn, saying Dortmund do not discuss players who are not under contract.
