“Last Chance for Salah”: Liverpool Legend warns Egyptian star ahead of Manchester United showdown
Liverpool icon Tony Cascarino believes that Sunday’s blockbuster clash against Manchester United could be make or break moment for Mohamed Salah as the Egyptian star faces growing scrutiny over his form and influence at Anfield.
Salah who has scored just 2 Premier League goal this season (one of them penalty) is under pressure to deliver after frustrating start to the 2025 /26 campaign.
Speaking to Rousing the Kop, Cascarino didn’t mince words about Salah’s situation:
"There will be question marks about Slot’s team selection. I think this is the last chance for Mohamed Salah , he cannot afford another poor performance"
The former Republic of Ireland forward believes Salah’s brace for Egypt against Djibouti in World Cup qualifying will provide much needed confidence boost but insists that it must translate into domestic form.
"That'll give Liverpool lift and I’m sure Slot is happy he scored 2 goal. But he knows Salah has to play well and make big difference because he’s been exceptional for Liverpool in the past and that’s the level he must get back to"
Cascarino also criticised Salah’s impact in the early months of the season:
"Right now, Salah hasn’t produced anything noteworthy for me. Liverpool’s results haven’t been good and there're big decisions to be made. Slot must pick the right team , that hasn’t happened yet"
He even suggested that Alexander Isak, one of Liverpool’s summer signings, deserves to start ahead of Salah based on current form:
"Slot should start Isak , he’s played a lot of minutes and looked far better especially against Chelsea. We can judge him from here".
