Late in the window, Boca agreed Lucas Janson's exit

In the final hours of the transfer window, Boca completed the transfer of Lucas Janson to Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata. The forward will leave the club on a one-year loan, seeking the playing time he was unable to get during his spell with the Xeneize.

The attacker’s spell at the Ribera club reached a necessary pause after performances that never managed to truly take hold. The deal was completed as a temporary loan for twelve months, including a purchase option in favor of El Lobo at the end of the agreement. The winger is expected to undergo the usual medical exams tomorrow in the provincial capital to finalize his signing.

The player had been sidelined, training separately at the Ezeiza Training Center along with another group frozen out by El Vasco. That sporting exclusion was a decision made by Rodolfo Arruabarrena, who informed him in advance that he was not part of his plans.

This departure comes as the transfer window closes: the market will officially end tomorrow, July 21, at 6 p.m. In this way, the wage budget is eased and overcrowding is avoided.

Since arriving in 2023, Janson played only 51 official matches in a Boca shirt and scored just 3 goals. Of those 51 matches mentioned, he completed only 5. He will leave in search of the continuity he was never able to find with the team, and his performances were the reason for that.

Boca is not leaving the transfer market

Although the transfer window will imminently shut for the local market on July 21, the regulations provide for an important exception. If the Xeneize manages to loan out or permanently transfer a player abroad after the deadline, it will receive an additional slot. That extraordinary extension would allow it to sign a new player until September 2 at 6 p.m.

Janson’s move to a local club does not trigger that extension, but Exequiel Zeballos’ departure will. The homegrown forward is close to joining Napoli, a club with which he already has a contract agreed, and Boca is expected to sell his registration for a fee of around 10 million dollars.

El Vasco Arruabarrena asked for a center-forward.

Thanks to Changuito’s departure, the board could finalize the arrival of a center-forward, a position El Vasco asked to reinforce due to the injury suffered by Adam Bareiro. The Paraguayan could undergo surgery, and Boca would be left with only Milton Giménez if it does not bring in another reinforcement for that area of the pitch.
