Romano confirms impending move

Romano has just confirmed that Madueke is set to complete the final part of his medical in the next 24 hours, meaning the transfer could be announced as soon as tomorrow.

The winger is in London, personal terms are agreed and the transfer fee is set at £48m plus a potential £4m in add ons. It’s proving to be a fairly controversial deal, with lots of Arsenal fans unhappy about it, and some Chelsea fans too.

It will take a while to see who’s got the better of the deal – it’s a lot of money, but Madueke has improved steadily and definitely has another level to go to in the right situation with the right coaching. His goal record is good, but there are doubts about his mentality at the very top level.

Chelsea could consider another attacking addition after Madueke sale

It will be very interesting to see what Chelsea’s next move is after this. Was the Madueke sale already underway when Jamie Gittens was signed? Or will there be another attacking addition? Could the plan be to use more Cole Palmer from the right flank next season, meaning that Gittens, Pedro Neto, Estevao Willian and Tyrique George give us enough wide options?

We will have to see if the rumours about incoming players start heating up again once this deal is done.
