The transfer window is in full swing, and Manchester City are now more seriously thinking about a move for Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, according to Sky Sports.
Tonali has been at Newcastle since 2023 and has played over 100 games for the club, and is contracted until 2029.
Tottenham are also strongly looking at the Italian, as we discussed yesterday. He joined Newcastle from AC Milan for £55 million, and the Magpies would expect to make a hefty profit if there was to be a sale.
Elsewhere, Fulham have been strongly linked with Alvaro Arbeloa to become their new manager, but director of football operations Tony Khan says there are currently two stand-out candidates.
In an interview with club media, Khan suggested there is no clear frontrunner for the job at this stage.
“We’ve had several conversations that have been good but there have been two candidates that have met with the board several times.
“We’re open to more conversations and talking to more people and we’re working on that process right now.
“Obviously it’s important to look to the next step and we have to bring in a new head coach, it’s something we’ve been actively working on and we’ve been actively talking and working to bring someone in.”
Sky Sports also report that Tottenham have rejected two offers from Brighton for Luka Vuskovic, the teenage centre-back.
The 19-year-old, who established himself as one of Europe’s best young defenders on loan at Hamburg, wants to be a regular starter now but is not interested in another temporary move.
Brighton’s latest offer was for £35m and according to Sky Sports they will not go back in with a fresh proposal immediately.
